Austrian Post achieves “record volumes”

Austrian Post  transported 200 million parcels in 2023, an increase of 10 %.  In 2022 Austrian Post transported 181 million parcels.  The increase in parcel volumes is mainly due to the growing desire to consume due to declining inflation. As a result of increased orders from Austrians in the Far East, Austrian Post is receiving additional parcel volumes for transport. “With 200 million parcels in 2023, we successfully continued our growth course in Austria. We have achieved this record volume by attracting new shippers and expanding national and international cooperation. Quality and quantity go hand in hand, as shown by the over-fulfilment of our delivery time promises and a first-time delivery rate of around 94 percent,” explains Peter Umundum, Director of the Board of Management for Parcel & Logistics, Austrian Post AG. On average days in 2023, Austrian Post transported almost 800,000 parcels across Austria, and in December this number rose to around one million parcels. The daily peak was reached with more than 1.4 million parcels transported. In 2023, Austrian Post not only set a new record for parcels in Austria. Austrian Post handled a total of 475 million parcels across the Group, which represents an increase in volumes of almost ten percent. Turkey’s Aras Kargo and its stake in Starex in Azerbaijan transported the most shipments with 206 million. The investments in CEE/SEE processed a total of almost 70 million parcels. Austrian Post operates in a total of eleven international parcel markets: Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary and Turkey, as well as in its home market of Austria.
