UPS has extended its network in Italy with the opening of a new sorting centre close to the southern metropolis of Naples

The US integrator and its agent, Raffele Inizio Autotrasporti, responsible for the surrounding Campania region, opened the centre at Arzano, north of Naples, earlier this month. The new facility will increase capacity for sorting packages from 1,000 per hour to 4,000, with the option of expanding capacity further to 8,000 packages an hour in the future.

The new operations centre of Raffele Inizio Autotrasporti, covering an area of 15,000 sqm, features advanced automated sorting technology, a 150-metre conveyor belt and eight bays for simultaneous loading and unloading of 70 vans, UPS Italy said in a statement.

Although UPS has expanded its international presence over the years, it has also benefited from partnerships with locally-based companies.
