Parcelnet to concentrate on its core home delivery business

Parcelnet is to phase out fulfillment activities and concentrate on “its core home delivery business”.

The company is to phase out its fulfillment activities.

A number of major investments over the next six months will see Parcelnet opening a purpose-fitted hub and a new head office building. But, so that the company can concentrate on “its core home delivery business”.

The company, which acquired TNT Post’s courier business back in June, will open the new hub in Nuneaton in mid-2009 and will create over 100 jobs. The facility is expected to absorb volumes from existing hubs in Bradford and Peterborough and, says the company, will become the central access point for Parcelnet’s home delivery operation. It is expected to enable Parcelnet “to enhance the services available to its customers, including the development of a next-day delivery offer.”

However, says the company, “Parcelnet has taken the decision not to re-tender for the fulfillment work it currently handles on behalf of several high street and home shopping retailers. The company will continue to provide home delivery services to those businesses affected, but phase out fulfillment activities as current contracts expire.”
