TNT Acquires Advanced Logistics (Italy)

TPG, through its TNT Logistics division, has today announced the acquisition of ALS (Advance Logistics Services), an important player in the Italian Logistics and Transport market. ALS, with sales of € 209 million in 2000, reinforces TNT’s position in Italy and provides a strong European road network to support pan-European logistics solutions. TPG’s logistics division, currently a world leader in automotive logistics, is continuing to strengthen its position in several other sectors, including electronics/telecom and fast moving consumer goods. Today’s strategic acquisition consolidates TNT’s position in the Italian electronics, telecom, consumer goods and fashion sectors, building upon the strong market position already established by TNT Tecnologistica. Roberto Rossi, TPG’s Group Managing Director Logistics, comments, ‘ALS’s expertise is a perfect fit with our sector-focused strategy in Southern Europe, namely strengthening our electronics, telecom, consumer goods and fashion presence, while its European road network will help us to better serve our customers who are looking for pan-European solutions.
