Skillweb has record year in post and parcel sector

Skillweb experienced a record year during 2009 processing more than 150m transactions through its mobile communications system that is used by delivery, supply chain, service management and healthcare companies. In particular, the post and parcel sector saw an increase of over 85%. Jersey Post was one of a number of new and existing customers to extend their use of Skillweb’s Houndit technology platform. The postal operator selected Skillweb to develop an end-to-end mobile communications solution for Ship2me, a home delivery service for Jersey and Guernsey. The tracking solution uses barcoding, GPS tracking and handheld scanners, to monitor the status of an item at every stage of delivery, with electronic signature capture providing proof of delivery.

In addition, Skillweb achieved levels of service above the industry norm of 99 to 99.5%, achieving average systems availability of more than 99.96% with some customers experiencing 100% availability throughout the whole of 2009.

Paul Ridden, managing director of Skillweb, commented: “This growth recognises the demand for tracking solutions to achieve operating efficiencies and performance.”
