Nightline looking for UK success

Nightline has announced its intention to use Lancashire as a springboard to success in the UK. The company believes its new office in the county will help achieve its objective of becoming a leading specialist carrier moving freight from the UK to Ireland.

The firm’s UK managing director, Geremy Ruffin, said the facility at Altham, near Accrington, would be able to handle up to 40,000 parcels a week.

Ruffin added: “We chose this location because we believe it is a tremendous facility, a substantially-sized warehouse close to key infrastructure and transport routes.

“We are confident that it will prove to be of enormous strategic importance in enabling us to reinforce the merits of the Nightline operation, both to existing customers who ship out of the UK to Ireland and those potential customers looking to do so.”

The firm is able to offer a single delivery service right across Ireland. In addition to the Altham facility, Nightline owns seven depots including sites at Dublin, Belfast, Galway and Cork.

Ruffin said the company would be creating 11 full-time jobs with further seasonal recruitment to reinforce its operations during busier periods of the year.

He added: “The UK exchanges more freight with Ireland than almost any other country in the world except China and yet, historically, the vast majority of deliveries into Ireland have not been handled in as professional a manner as they could be.  That is why Nightline has established a regional office in the UK. We feel we can make a significant difference.”
