Zumwinkel remains head of Deutsche Post

Deutsche Post’s ceo Klaus Zumwinkel put an end to the speculation circulating over the weekend in a letter to his employees.

Below is the text of his letter.

“Dear Colleagues,

In the past few days there has been considerable speculation that I would become Chairman of Deutsche Telekom’s Board of Management. It is a great honour to me personally and to all of us who have worked together for the success of Deutsche Post World Net that the head of the Post would be considered for this challenge.

Many in our Group are now concerned and have contacted me. To clarify matters once and for all, let me succinctly state: I am remaining in my position as Chairman of Deutsche Post World Net’s Board of Management.

I am pleased to be head of Deutsche Post. Together with you and those with whom I have co‑operated closely over the ten exciting years of postal history, written by Deutsche Post World Net, I look forward to further strengthening our Group’s international presence.

We have mastered vast challenges together. I am thinking here specifically of the reunification. We have overcome some defeats and together written a great success story. I see even greater success on the horizon in the coming years: We will be an internationally strong and sound company for our customers, guaranteeing 380,000 jobs, with the capability and the staff necessary to become No. 1 world‑wide.

This, dear colleagues, is our and my paramount perspective for the future.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Klaus Zumwinkel”
