£250,000 investment for mailing firm

A Midland postal services company is tying a ribbon on its ten-year anniversary with a pounds 250,000 investment in new equipment.

Birmingham-based Central Mailing services says it hopes to add to the 30 staff it now employs providing mailing services for all market sectors from advertising agencies and publishers to professional bodies and blue chip corporate companies.

The company has doubled its turnover in the last three years and now has sales of more than pounds 2 million a year.

It was the brainchild of Greg Bodycote and Mike Riordan, the two Midland-born directors who were made redundant at the same time and decided to join forces to form the company to meet demand in the services sector.

The new investment will almost double the number of items handled each month as well as providing spare capacity to deal with last minute contracts.

Last year Central Mailing Services was the first Midlands company to achieve the Quality Standard for Mail Production, an award designed to help buyers of direct mail services source proven high quality suppliers.

The company, which specialises in data processing, print management, laser printing and distribution, still retains its first client, Powergen, and mails out Christmas cards on behalf of the company to more than 16,000 pensioners UK-wide.

Other clients include Birmingham City Council, the CBSO, Business Link Birmingham, Stratford on Avon District Council and London Chamber of Commerce.
