Walmart looking to offer meal kits on website

US retailer Walmart is looking to start to offer meal kits on its e-commerce website from December, according to media sources. Media including The Street and FoodDive have quoted Mike McDevitt, CEO of Terra’s Kitchen, as saying that Walmart plans to feature meal kits from a variety of companies on its site, and charge a referral fee to companies for each order.

McDevitt was quoted as saying that this was a “low risk” way for Walmart to sound out the online meal kit market. As previously reported by Post&Parcel, retailer Albertsons recently bought the meal kit company and Amazon is also eyeing the meal kit sector.
