Geopost hitting the acquisition trail

Geopost may acquire other parcels companies in the UK. Chief executive officer Colin Millbanks said, “We are not averse to making an acquisition of our own,” in a press conference last week, “but we will not disrupt the progress we are already making. The price has to be right and ft would have to be focused on our strategy.”

Parceline and Interlink were acquired by Geopost In December 2000 and since then have grown by 31%. There has been heavy investment in a new hub for Interlink and expansion of the Parceline hub.

Millbanks also criticised some of the franchised parcels firms. “Large company-owned networks have got their act togethe much better,” he said. They have reduced costs, increased Investment and Improved service levels. “In future franchised networks will come under more pressure. They tend to be stand-alone, and don’t have the funds to call on that are necessary.” Interlink, Geopost’s franchised network, in contrast has access to Geopost’s funds, he said.

Colin Millbanks Is retiring next March and will be replaced by Kay Phillips from Parceline
