Amazon UK Services profits triple in 2017

Amazon UK Services – the subsidiary that operates the retail giant’s fulfilment centres in the UK – has reported that its profits almost tripled in 2017, up from £25.601m to £70.676m.

Operating profit more than tripled, from £24.265m to £72.379m.

The company’s financial results for 2017 – published on the UK Companies website last week – also showed that turnover had increased  by more than a third from £1.462bn to £1.988bn.

Amazon currently has 16 fulfilment centres across the UK and four more are scheduled to be opened this year, in Bristol, Rugby, Bolton and Coventry.

By the end of this year, Amazon UK Services expects to be employing more than 27,500 people across its network of fulfilment centres, depots and development facilities.
