Emirates Post and India Post have agreed to expand cooperation in the postal fields, express mail, remittances and philately.

A delegation of India Post recently visited Dubai and held talks with top officials of Emirates Post Group to identify areas of further bilateral cooperation. The India Post delegation included Samant Shukadev, member of the Postal Services Board, Department of Posts, and Ranjeet Kumar, director of the Ministry of Communications and IT, government of India.

Welcoming the delegation, Abdullah Al Daboos, president of Emirates Post Group, underlined the need for consolidation of ties between Emirates Post and India Post, in view of the strong historic ties existing between the two sides.

Al Daboos briefed the officials on the long-term strategies of Emirates Post Holding Group and invited India Post to be a part of the diversification plans. He outlined the holding companies’ future projects and said there was great potential for India to be part of these plans.

The two sides discussed ways of enhancing the express mail service (Mumtaz), remittances through the International Financial System, Wall Street Exchange and parcel service.

Both sides agreed to enhance relations in philately, and agreed to host a joint stamp exhibition in 2010.

The delegation toured Emirates Post’s new sorting centre in Ramoul, and offices of Wall Street Exchange, Electronic Document Centre, and Emirates Marketing and Promotions.
