DHL Express has pledged to continue disbursing its investment package of $14m to develop the network of service centres and depots to provide the best services in Vietnamese market.

Tim Baxter, general director of DHL-VNPT Express, said that DHL’s disbursement would be for the projects of building express stations and expanding the truck group to provide transportation services in different provinces all over the country. A new express station is expected to be put into operation in Hanoi this year.

DHL-VNPT was a joint venture between DHL and Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Corp, with the chartered capital of $5.8m, in which DHL holds 51% of capital. At present, the company has invested in construction projects of express service stations in provinces of Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Hai Phong and continued expanding its network to serve more customers.

Last year was considered as DHL’s most successful business year after 20 years in operation in Vietnam, Baxter said. Despite the bad affects from world economic recession, DHL was still optimistic about gaining stable growth rate within this year.
