Russian postal operator to slash 33,000 jobs

Pochta Rossii plans to cut 33,000 personnel during 2010 as part of a campaign aimed at streamlining company management. “The result of the planned measures will be a gradual reduction of the personnel of Pochta Rossii by at least 8%,” the company said in a statement.

According to the statement, the planned cuts will affect managers at the company’s branches.

The postal operator currently employs some 415,000 people.

Since the start of the year, the company has almost halved the number of staff in managerial departments, with a 27.8% reduction in total employees.
