Swiss Post “realigns” third-party products at post offices
Swiss Post has decided to focus the range of third-party products available at post offices more clearly on products that are related to Swiss Post – and drop the kiosks offering sweets and snacks. “In future, the range will focus on services such as public services, insurance or products and services from the telecommunications sector,” said Swiss Post today (26 November).
“Established products such as books, stationery and gift cards will also remain in the range.
“The mini-kiosks offering sweets and snacks will be discontinued.”
Products from the home electronics, toys, car and household ranges will also be dropped. Swiss Post will
begin the phased implementation of the new product range in the first quarter of 2016.
Swiss Post came to this decision following a pilot project which it ran earlier this year.
Sales of third-party products generate earnings of around 500 million francs annually for Swiss Post. The company accepts that the new focus will result in a drop in sales – but it feels this is outweighed by the long-term benefits of having “a more clearly defined market position” and a “customer-oriented range of products”.
