UK Royal Mail chooses LeasePlan to run its company cars
Royal Mail announced today it has signed a contract with the vehicle management company, LeasePlan, to supply and maintain its 5,000 non-operational company cars. The contract does not affect Royal Mail’s fleet of familiar red delivery trucks and vans, as they remain in-house. There is also no impact on jobs.
The three year deal with LeasePlan is part of Royal Mail’s initiative to reduce costs and return to profitability. LeasePlan will provide a range of specialist services including procurement, administration, maintenance, repairs and disposal.
Royal Mail’s Project Director, Peter Restarick, said: “Quite simply this is good housekeeping and, by reducing costs, is another important step in our renewal plan. I’m confident LeasePlan will provide a superb level of expertise and professional support in this specialist area.”
Kevin McNally, Managing Director of LeasePlan UK, added: “We are delighted to have been selected by Royal Mail and we will work hard to meet their needs to help them reduce costs and further improve the service.”
