Indian government reveals plans for more rural post offices

The Indian government plans to open 81 sub-post offices and 100 branch post offices in the current financial year, as part of its “Rural Business & Access to Postal Network” scheme. Communications Minister Manoj Sinha revealed the plans in a written reply in Parliament yesterday (26 July).

According to local media, the Minister also said that almost all of the 25,350 post offices in the various states of the country are now computerized.
