Revolutionising Logistics with Prime Vision’s Enhanced Autonomous Robotic Sorting

In a transformative leap for logistics and warehousing, Prime Vision has redefined the capabilities of its autonomous sorting robots, evolving them from a helpful tool to an essential asset in sorting centres. These advancements mark a new era in logistics efficiency, quality, and versatility.

 Expanded Scope and Increased Efficiency
Prime Vision’s Robin rovers now navigate complex floorplans, handle multiple infeeds, and service up to 250 sorting destinations. The past year has seen these robots grow in both capacity and sophistication, offering solutions to persistent staffing shortages and elevating throughput rates.

 Enhanced System Upgrades

  • Larger Fleets and Fields: Transitioning from 20 robots in 20×20 meter (66×66 ft.) spaces, the rovers now operate in up to 65-strong fleets within expansive 50×60 meter (200×165 ft.) areas.
  • Multiple Infeeds: Growth from single to eight infeed points, enhancing sorting capabilities.
  • Load Balancing and Time-Based Scheduling: Innovations in robot distribution and navigation prevent congestion and optimize efficiency, even with high robot density.

 Impressive Throughput Achievements

The result of these upgrades? A 50% increase in throughput, reaching 1,600 parcels per hour. With further developments planned for the first and second halves of 2024, throughput will grow to 2,400 and then 4,000 parcels per hour, respectively.

Specialised in Non-Machinables

Unique in handling non-machinable – oversized and odd-shaped – items, the Prime Vision system outperforms traditional sorters with a 20-40% increase in throughput. The robots’ design caters to larger-than-average parcels, streamlining processes that traditionally posed logistical challenges. Combined with our new handover belt, manual handling of non-machinables can be minimised.

Diverse Deployment

This year’s technical leaps have resulted in two new contracts in e-fulfillment. At leading Dutch provider of baby products Babydump, our robot will seamlessly integrate with existing ASRS infrastructure, to further automate their fulfillment operations.

For online motorcycle, moped, and scooter-parts supplier K-Parts, we partnered with Intellistore to integrate our autonomous robots with their Automated Storage and Retrieval System. This set-up will help K-Parts efficiently serve their expanding e-commerce customer base.   The Future of Logistics

Prime Vision’s advancements symbolise more than technological progress; they represent a strategic investment in a future where smart, effective logistics solutions lead the way. The enhanced capabilities of these autonomous sorting robots are not just about keeping pace with current demands but are paving the path to a smarter and more efficient future in the world of logistics and fulfillment.
