China Post and Post Slovenije sign cooperation agreement in Beijing

Chairman of the China Post Group Liu Aili and General Manager of Pošta Slovenije Marko Cegnar have signed an agreement that strengthens cooperation in the areas of mail and parcel logistics. This agreement signals a commitment on the part of the two postal operators to improve services and explore opportunities for expanding cooperation and strengthening economic exchange between the two countries.

The management of both postal operators agreed to boost cooperation at a meeting that took place at the end of January on the sidelines of the Slovenian-Chinese Business Council in Ljubljana. “We are delighted that China Post has recognised Pošta Slovenije as being a reliable and efficient postal operator, and one that ensures high standards of quality in the delivery of letters and parcels. At the same time, Slovenia’s favourable geostrategic position at the meeting point of several important European transport corridors means that the Pošta Slovenije Group is able to offer enhanced cooperation in the field of logistics as well,” said Pošta Slovenije’s General Manager Marko Cegnar during the signing ceremony.

The rapid rise of Chinese online stores and platforms in the last few years has brought an increasing number of opportunities in the field of parcel logistics, which is the Pošta Slovenije Group’s most important business segment. Consignments coming from China to Slovenia have, in the recent period, accounted for the one of the highest shares in overall parcel operations, with trends showing that numbers will only increase in future. The increase in the volume of delivery of parcels from Chinese online stores, in tandem with the new agreement signed by the two postal operators, opens up the possibility of further enhanced cooperation in other business areas in the months and years to come.
