P&O Nedlloyd completes acquisition of Farrell Line

P&O Nedlloyd has successfully completed the acquisition of Farrell Lines Incorporated. The completion follows approval from the United States Maritime Administration. The two companies are now implementing the integration of activities.

The current East Mediterranean coverage offered by the existing Farrell service will be continued. The final port rotation of the Farrell Mediterranean Express service (“FAMEX”) will be announced shortly. Links to other services in the P&O Nedlloyd network are planned for introduction during August.

1. P&O Nedlloyd announced the acquisition of Farrell Lines Incorporated on 6 June 2000.

2. Farrell Lines Incorporated is a privately held USA based shipping company with its headquarters in Manhattan, New York City. It operates five US Flag container ships of an average size of 2000 teus in a service between the USA East Coast and the West and Eastern Mediterranean. A key cargo segment is the USA military and preference cargo, which require US flag ships. It has a number of owned offices in the USA, Genoa, Italy and Tblisi, Georgia and is employing 165 staff. Farrell Lines, originally named American South African Line, was established in 1925 by John and James Farrell.
