DHL launch life science and healthcare centre in Shanghai

DHL announced on 25 June the launch its life science and healthcare logistics centre in Shanghai, Xinhua reported.

DHL announced on 25 June the launch its life science and healthcare logistics centre in Shanghai, Xinhua reported.

This marks a significant move of DHL to develop cold chain logistics, which will help secure the quality and timeliness of the company’s cold chain deliveries and satisfy the demand of medical companies, biochemical labs and pharmaceuticals.

DHL will also put into use the temperature controlled warehouse, located at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

The warehouse occupies 1.8m square metres, with temperature controlled between 15-25c.

China posted fast growth in medical sector in recent years. Statistics show the compound average growth rate (CAGR) of China’s medical market from 2004 to 2008 arrived at 21.1%, ranking ninth in the world.

DHL predicted China would maintain double-digit growth in medical industry in the following years and turn into the world’s sixth largest market in 2011.
