GLS Netherlands remains “stable”

GLS Netherlands has said business remains “generally stable” despite the difficult economic climate and volume declines.
A company statement said that while the numbers in the shipment of parcels and cargo has been reduced, the amounts remained relatively stable.

Milo Kars, general manager, GLS Netherlands, announced that he was “cautiously optimistic” and that the company will still strive to “satisfy customers”.

Despite the crisis, GLS Netherlands has invested in its networks, IT and new technology.

In early 2009, the business acquired a depot in Rotterdam and tripled its local capacity to 10,000 square metres. The network structure has been reviewed to ensure the smooth flow of packets in the system. There was also an investment in new scanner technology, aimed to make operations leaner and more efficient.

“We aggressively addressed the crisis,” said Milo Kars. “We have prepared ourselves with a higher degree of flexibility.”
