The French La Poste has announced that it will invest 21m euros in a new
letter and parcel sorting centre near Strasbourg, where the automatic facility with a capacity of 1.7 million letters per day (representing a 25-30% increase compared to the current equipment) will be put into operation at the end of 2002. In an interview with Reuters news agency Mr Jean-Louis Seguin, the responsible La Poste manager, pointed out that the 9,600 square metres building was situated three kilometres from the Entzheim airport. Around a third of the consignments are delivered to the sorting centre from the airport.
