UPS Logistics to test automated parts access

UPS Logistics Group will test a program for automated, self-service parts distribution.

The company’s customers can now pick up or return essential parts 24 hours a day, seven days a week using new technology that enables access to secured UPS Logistics Group storage facilities without the need for UPS staffers.

UPS has selected the Brivo Access Control System to support the automated exchange of parts for its service parts logistics business. The system facilitates the hand-off of replacement parts by utilizing transaction-specific key codes that enable access to secure areas.

The automated operation can dramatically reduce the waiting period for customers expecting deliveries, potentially saving time and labor costs.
