Skillweb launches parcel tracking system for SME couriers
UK mobile computing technology provider Skillweb has developed a new tracking tool for small couriers and carriers to use in tracking parcels. The company says its SmartTask Mobile Delivery system offers an “affordable, easily configurable” system using software and mobile computing capabilities previously only available to larger mail, parcel and supply chain operations.
The new system uses the same technology as Skillweb’s Houndit Enterprise offering, and can offer insight into a network’s performance as well as tracking for individual parcels.
Items can be tracked from every stage of the delivery process, with the system offering onscreen tracking history and an interface for third-party web-based proof of delivery allowing end customers to access status information about their orders.
Paul Ridden, the Skillweb managing director, said his company had used experience working with organisations like Postea, Singapore Post and Jersey Post to create the new system for SME couriers and carriers.
“By taking advantage of our proven mobile computing platform, we can help these organisations to achieve significant business and operational benefits, such as reduced costs, increased productivity, enhanced customer service and better informed decision-making,” said Ridden.
High Wycombe-based Skillweb has been producing tracking systems for 12 years, and claims its systems are currently overseeing 25m transactions each month around the world.
