Loyalty lost by Consignia rate hike

Increases to the tariff card offered by Consignia at Heathrow have prompted some operators to withdraw from using the company. On certain destinations the rate has increased dramatically for Consignias Country Sort and Zone and Format Services.
A 90 gramme letter to the Netherlands costing 67p last year now costs 74p. Other oerators on the same route charge as little as 46.5p.
One Heathrow operator that spends over £1 million a year with Consignia has stopped all dealings with it. The managing director said: “For the last 15 years we have used the Royal Mail, but we have canelled out contract wiwth them now. This is not just about rates, but about their whole approach.“ David Bennett, Consignias General manager for international services said the changes would:“return International Contract Services to commercial viability.“
