Swiss Post launches free parcel delivery alerts
Swiss Post has launched a new advance notification system for parcels just in time for Christmas. The Swiss national postal service said its new offering will allow customers to choose to have delivery alerts send via email or text message advising them of the day when an item will be delivered.
The service, called “My consignments” is available free of charge for those ordering parcel shipments via the Swiss Post website.
Alerts also advise customers of a parcel’s size — including whether it will fit into a customer’s storage box — and whether a signature is required. It will also detail any cash on delivery charges on a parcel.
After delivery, a message will confirm that a parcel has been delivered. If no one is home to take delivery, customers will receive a collection one, and can notify Swiss Post on their preferences for the missed parcel via the company’s website or mobile phone application.
Convenience
Swiss Post said today it is handling more than one million parcels per day during peak times in the run-up to Christmas.
The My consignments service comes as part of efforts to improve the convenience of parcel delivery, along with options like extended collection times, second deliveries, parcel lockers and new forwarding services to redirect parcels to another address.
The company said: “The growth of online retail and social change mean that customers want more convenience and transparency when receiving and sending their parcels. My consignments” and the improved forwarding process form part of Swiss Post’s new services in response to these requirements.”
Swiss Post said that since it has improved parcel sorting processes at its parcel centres in Härkingen, Frauenfeld and Daillens, its delivery times for forwarded parcels will now be the same as for normal parcels, rather than a day longer.
