ArrowXL announces new investment in home delivery fleet
Two-man home delivery specialist ArrowXL has invested £500,000 in 19 new double deck trailers for its UK fleet. “Each double deck will be pulling the load of 1.6 single deck trailers, bringing real savings on running costs and benefits to the environment,” said ArrowXL’s chief executive officer Ian Howell.
The 19 double deck trailers have been manufactured specifically by Cartwright to suit the bulky nature of ArrowXL’s two-man home delivery product.
The company began introducing them into the daily schedule in July and all 19 are now in use.
They are being used to transport retailers’ large and bulky products – such as beds and mattresses, white goods, upholstery, bathroom suites and garden furniture – to ArrowXL’s four hubs in Airdrie, Enfield, Wigan and Worcester for onward nationwide delivery into customers’ homes.
Ian Howell said: “These have replaced our existing single deck trailers, therefore reducing considerably the numbers of our vehicles on the road, and our overall carbon footprint.
“We have made this investment as it helps us become more efficient in transporting customer orders through our network with added benefits in reducing fuel costs.”
ArrowXL delivers around 8,000 consignments a day via four hubs, 23 satellite bases and 250 service delivery teams. As well as six day delivery and collections, the company also provides in-home services such as installing white goods, assembling flat-pack furniture or setting up a new TV and connecting devices.
