German team visits Emirates Post

A high-ranking delegation from Germany’s Deutsche Post recently visited Emirates Post.

The German Delegation comprised Klaus Knappik, Chairman of the Management Board, Dr Gerhard Kompf, Managing Director, and Michael Culme Seymour, Regional Manager Asia Pacific. The delegates discussed with Emirates Post’s officials the possibility of exchanging expertise and the methods used to enhance the postal services standards.

They toured Al Ramool Automated Sorting Centre and the International Transit Hub in Dubai Airport and were acquainted with the special services Emirates Post is providing through its modern facilities.

Abdulla Al Daboos, Emirates Post Director General, said: “The interest expressed by Deutsche Post is very welcome and is an indication of the work that has been carried out to establish the Emirates Post facility.”

Al Daboos has a presentation on Emirates Post’s operational and organisational restructuring as well as the state-of-the-art products recently introduced in light of the corporation’s new identity, set of values, vision and mission.

He highlighted efforts to develop the postal services by processing most transactions via the latest means of technology.

Emirates Post underwent huge changes by shifting from a traditional type of postal authority into a profitable corporation with the ability to compete in the open market, noted Al Daboos.

“Operational challenges emerging as a result of multiple mail sorting systems are dealt with by establishing Al Ramool Automated Sorting Centre and hence to save time and to provide more accuracy,” he said.

“In addition, we could subdue Organisational Challenges by extending the authority of decision-making to the personnel involved in issuing urgent decisions, such as the Postal Zones Directors, in order to speed up the decision-making process in ways that serve the corporation’s welfare.”

Al Daboos referred to the Postal Training Centre and its key role in educating, as well as motivating, Emirates Post’s employees into performing in a professional, efficient and competent way.

“All our staff undergo training courses either inland or abroad to make sure they fare well and synchronize productively in the market,” he added.

“We could overcome the challenge of a limited product range by developing existing products and coming up with more innovative ones. The latest technology utilised and the well-trained cadre gave Emirates Post a boost in promoting the recently introduced products amongst the private companies and the government departments.”

Emirates Post took an additional step forward by signing strategic business alliances and entering into joint ventures with well-reputed corporations and banks operating locally and internationally, said Al Daboos.

“Emirates Post has recently developed a sophisticated Electronic Document Centre (EDC) to manage printing, sorting and dispatching documents on the client’s behalf.

“We have been appointed by American Express, one of our strategic partners, for the printing, enveloping and mailing of account statements and customer advice,” he said.
