Ocado reports “steady growth” in sales

Ocado has reported that it achieved sales of £272m for the 12 weeks up to 9 August, which was up 17.3% on the same period last year. The company also reported that the number of average orders per week was up by 16.6% to 190,000, although the average order size was down 1.1% to £110.46.

Commenting on the results, Tim Steiner, Ocado’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are pleased with the continued steady growth of our business in a retail environment that remains tough.

“We believe our commitment to improving what we offer to customers through innovation and our proprietary IP will support further growth. Notwithstanding the competitive nature of the marketplace, we expect to continue growing slightly ahead of the online grocery market.”
