Ocado set to hire 1,798 new permanent staff before December

UK-based online supermarket Ocado has announced that it is looking to recruit 1,798 new permanent staff before December. In an official statement sent to Post&Parcel, Ocado said that this recruitment drive, the biggest ever for the retailer, has been fuelled by the company’s “dramatic expansion, led by soaring consumer demand and the boom in online grocery shopping”.

Most of the vacancies are for Customer Service Team Members (CSTMs). The company is looking to hire delivery van drivers and also personal shoppers, who receive, pack and load customers’ orders.

Ocado also announced that it is on track for the opening of its third Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC)in Andover early next year – which will created 700 jobs.

Based in Walworth Business Park, the five-floor, 240,000 square foot CFC will be home to 95 of Ocado’s vans, a dedicated tractor park and 22 trailers. It will have an operating capacity of 70,000 orders per week.
