DHL eyes Asia as strong source of business growth

The new integrated DHL, which provides logistics, express and parcel services, sees Asia emerging as a source of strong growth for its business, Yasmin Aladad Khan, General Manager DHL Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

“Asia is already the fastest growing market for DHL and the intra Asia cargo (shipment) will be boosted by the development of trade into and out of China and member countries of the Asean Free Trade Agreement,” she said at the launching of DHL new brand projecting DHL letters in red on a yellow background, here today.

The new DHL is a result of the integration of three companies, DHL Worldwide Express, Deutsche Post Express and Danzas into one single company known as DHL.

Yasmin said DHL expected China to become its largest market in the region within two or three years.

In order to support the expected growth, DHL has invested heavily in state-of-the-art infrastructure and technologies in the region including setting up of its global information services centre in Cyberjaya late last year that involved RM197.6 million and an IT-supported logistic centre in Puchong, Malaysia that cost about RM30 milllion, she added.

The new DHL which is an integration of the three companies were 100 percent owned by Deutsche Post World Net, a listed company in the Frankfurt Stock Exchange with wide ranging operations in mail, express, logistics and financial services.

“The integration brings together DHL’s market dominance in the region’s express cargo business and customised logistics solutions, and Danzas global number one position in air freight and a top ocean freight provider, with expertise in the development of customised industry-specific logistics solutions, global project forwading, warehousing and distribution,” she said.

Yasmin said DHL was also determined to enhance service quality and bring greater convenience to its customers worldwide as the combination of DHL and Danzas strength here in Asia Pacific has opened new possibilities for the customers of both companies to easily access a full range of integrated Express and Logistic solutions. — BERNAMA
