FedEx to play bigger role in Thailand

FedEx Express Corp is drafting a long-term investment roadmap for its Thai operations following the recent signing of a Thai-US “open skies” agreement for the air cargo industry.

A FedEx executive said the air cargo company would expand operations in Thailand but the Philippines would remain its hub for Asian operations.

“We are now looking to play a bigger role and to invest more in increasing flight capacity and upgrading facilities in Thailand, with a significant outlay projected for next year,” said David Cunningham, president of FedEx Asia Pacific. He declined to elaborate on the investment figure.
