Posten expands service network
Posten, the Swedish postal company, is to start expanding its new service
network in September 2001. A total of 3,000 new service offices will be
opened. In addition, the mailboxes with be given a new look and logo.
Lennart Grabe, managing director and chief executive at Posten, said that
the changes are being made to increase availability. He added that without
the changes, the company would be forced out of the market by other parcel
distributors.
Posten will open a number of new service offices in existing stores,
focussing on letter services. Mr Grabe said that the company will open 23
new offices each week and that its products will be simplified. In the next
two years, Posten’s workforce will be reduced by 1,900.
