Net value of Australia Post bill payment scheme

Australia Post has joined forces with Internet firm ninemsn to create the country’s largest bill-payment network so far.
The venture will allow ninemsn’s 4.6 million monthly on-line customers to receive electronic bills and schedule bill payment through the ninemsn Web site.
Australia Post’s national manager of financial services,
Terry Stephens, said the agreement with ninemsn would allow the corporation’s on-line billpay service to reach more Australians than ever before.
“The popularity of the ninemsn site will give Australia Post’s on-line bilipay service similar reach to our retail network, which is the largest in Australia,” Stephens said.
More than 100 regular household bills will be available
through ninemsn bilipay, including electricity, mobile phones, gas, water and council rate payments, with more being added regularly.
Unlike some other on-line bill-payment services, ninemsn billpay is accessible to any consumer with Internet access and an email account.
Australia Post already operates Australia’s single largest retail bill-payment network.
