TNT launches new Thailand hub

After considerable expansion in TNT’s Don Muang Airport operation, Thailand will officially become the fourth country in the company’s Asia network to be granted hub status.

The new 24/7 airport operation, opened in Terminal One in February 2003, is dedicated to Express services covering import, export and trans-shipment consignments.

TNT has also installed advanced X-ray equipment for security risk management on all shipments passing through the facility. The equipment’s 3D technology also provides detailed information which allows faster Customs clearance.

“The Bangkok hub will enhance TNT’s Asia’s regional network, facilitating trans-shipment business from Indo-China and the Middle East markets,” said Ken McCall, CEO, Asia, Middle East and Africa. “Working in tandem with TNT’s established hubs in Singapore, the Philippines and Hong Kong, TNT’s fourth Asian hub strengthens our offering in strategic centres throughout the region.”

Winfried Kiesbueye, Country Manager for TNT Thailand said that the designation of TNT Thailand as a global network hub shows that Bangkok is in an advantageous location, has good connecting flights, hi-tech facilities and offers a great opportunity for transit business.

“This is clear confirmation of TNT’s commitment to Thailand.” he added. “We have been established here for many years and now it is time to progress to the next development stage. This evolution will benefit all of our divisions – Express, Logistics and Domestic – but primarily we will see significant performance improvements in our Express imports and exports.”

Kiesbueye believes that Thailand can play a major role in the fast-growing Express industry.

TNT has backed its new hub status by launching ’25×7′, a round-the-clock support system for Express customers looking for service beyond normal business hours.
