McCarthy latest UPN member

Wrexham-based McCarthy Haulage has become the latest member to join United Pallet Network, covering the CH postcodes. McCarthy Haulages company secretary, Andrew Nicholson says: We decided to evaluate our position in the industry and decided that the time was right to join a pallet netwrok. We looked at all of the networks out there and found that our preferred option was UPN because of its emphasis on quality rather than volume.
UPN says it experienced its busiest night earlier this month with 1,600 pallets moved in one night and is currently putting together plans for a 4,650 sqm extension of its Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire hub.
UPN hopes to launch its Safeguard payment protection scheme, which aims to protect members from bad debts from other members, in January. MD Andrew Spencer says the scheme , which was launched in June, has been held up by 6 members reluctance to join.
