Fight for Nordic Post market intensifies

The fight for the Nordic post market has intensified with the Danish and Norwegian post offices, Post Danmark and Posten Norge respectively, forming an alliance against their Swedish counterpart, Posten. Their German counterpart, Deutsche Post, has also entered the fight and will join Pan Nordic Logistics, the Post Danmark-Posten Norge parcel subsidiary, next week.

UK Government: Next step for the urban post office network

Douglas Alexander, Minister in the Department of Trade and Industry, today welcomed the terms negotiated between Post Office Ltd and the National Federation of Sub Postmasters in relation to the urban network.
A report by the Cabinet Office’s Performance and Innovation Unit recognised that in urban areas Post Office Ltd and sub-postmasters have the opportunity to improve the quality of service offered to customers with more modern Post Offices branches. It recommended that Government ensure the Post Office Ltd has the necessary resources to carry through the changes. The Government accepted this and today’s announcement is the next step in implementing the recommendation for modern sustainable urban Post Offices.

DHL exports to Germany increase by 20% in 2001

AEROSPACE exports have helped parcel carrier DHL Worldwide Express keep up business momentum at East Midlands Airport. DHL said Germany was the area¹s fastest growing export market in 2001. The international express carrier saw a 20 per cent rise in shipments to the country in the past 12 months.
