Nigeria Post moves to enhance speedy mail delivery

Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) last week joined the rest of the 188 members of the International Postal Union (IPU), to mark the World Post Day with a resolve to further enhance speedy mail delivery.

It said following its discovery that many of the post offices are in Nigeria located in the outskirts of major towns and cities thereby making patronage of such post offices very difficult, management has directed area postal managers to evolve means of bringing postal services closer to the people.

Nigerian Netpost begins internet banking

The newly incorporated NETPOST is to commence financial transactions such as E-banking /Internet banking, money transfers as well as offer basic computer/information technology training at its major centres across the country.

NETPOST is a joint venture company between Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), DVI Nigeria Limited (a subsidiary of Development Ventures International, USA) and ABG Nigeria Limited.

Japan Post resumes express mail

Japan Post on Tuesday resumed its express mail service (EMS) to Nigeria after suspending it on April 25 due to delivery problems, Japan Post officials said. Although exact causes for the delivery problem have yet to be sorted out, Japan Post decided to resume the service as it can now ensure delivery routes between the Nigerian postal authorities and airline firms, the officials said.

Japan Post suspends express mail service to Nigeria

Japan Post said Friday it has decided to suspend its express mail service (EMS) to Nigeria. Japan Post said a total of 194 letters sent via EMS since the beginning of this year have been undelivered and that it will suspend EMS to Nigeria until a route to ensure such mail is delivered is confirmed. But Japan Post said it will continue to handle other types of mail to the African country.
