Efficiency study for pallet networks.

TransportEnergy Bestpractice is funding a study into the efficiency and environmental benefits of pallet distribution networks.
The study will be the first of its kind into what is arguably the newest branch of the UK haulage industry and will be carried out by Les Beaumont of The Logistics Business, a consultancy based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
Key performance indicators will be developed involving loading efficiencies and other factors. Participating companies will get a detailed analysis of their own performance and information an how they are performing in relation to others in the sector, although that benchmarking will not identify the other companies.
‘The KPI’s will highlight opportunities for efficiency improvements and establish baseline measures of vehicle use and efficiency against which future improvements can be assessed,’ says Beaumont.
Similar studies have already been undertaken for food, non-food retailing, automotive, home delivery and road haulage of air cargo.
