Firm wins GBPm deal to provide utility bills
A firm has won a contract worth £500,000 to print customer accounts for an energy giant.
Otm, based on Braunstone Frith Industrial Estate has signed a deal with a division of energy firm npower called Yorkshire Electricity and Northern Electricity (YENE).
The agreement will see OTM print 70,000 electricity and gas bills a day and post them to all YENE consumers.
Kris Prashad, managing director, say the partnership could help win further new contracts with major blue chip clients.
He said: “We won the contract following a tender and we are pleased we got it.
“Winning this deal will give us confidence and, hopefully, in the next 12 months people will see that our customer base has increased.
“Since last year, we have created 10 jobs and we will see how they bed into the business before seeing if we will create more opportunities.”
The news comes just months after the firm made a seven-figure investment in two new presses at its premises on Scudamore Road.
The new Xerox machines, which have an estimated lifespan of six years, are capable of printing up to 6,000 full colour A4 impressions per hour, each personalised with unique text, images and graphics.
Last week, the company was visited by 30 Chinese businessmen who wanted to see how the machines work.
Mr Prashad said: “The businessmen were attending a conference in Birmingham and wanted to look at our expertise.
“They sent me a letter saying they were impressed and overwhelmed with what they saw.”
OTM was formerly called Optecon and is part of the Opus Trust group of companies.
The firm prints and mails sales literature, handles customer response calls and processes payments as well as the personalised direct mail.
Some of its functions from the Leicester site are carried out by its sister location in Swindon. Its customers include npower, Avis, Royal Mail and Thames Water.
It employs 160 people, a total which is boosted at times of peak demand by up to 40 temporary staff.
The firm posted a turnover of £14 million last year, with a target of £17 million for the year end.
