GLS Ireland expands parcel shop network

On September 1st of last year, GLS Ireland opened the first
parcel shops in its six depots. Since then, the network In Ireland has been expanded
to approximately 40 locations – by the end of the year 2007 a total of 120 parcel drop
points is planned.
Shopping and handing in parcels at the same time: The GLS parcel shops offer private
customers and commercial companies with a low consignment volume a practical and timesaving
alternative to the state Postal Offices. “The concept has gained acceptance”, says
Olaf Stüwe, Managing Director of GLS Ireland. “We are opening up to 10 additional drop
points per month.”
The parcel shops of GLS are integrated for example into retail stores, train stations or
Internet cafés. The highest priority: quality. The parcel shop operators not only receive
comprehensive information and promotional material but are also trained by GLS Ireland in
the specifics of parcel handling, thereby ensuring the best possible service for the customer.
Customer service with quality
Quality and service, for GLS Ireland’s parcel shop customers this means: seamless shipment
tracking via Internet, an automatic insurance coverage for every parcel (in accordance with
the invoiced value of the goods up to a max. € 350 per parcel), a regular delivery time of less
than 24 hours in the whole of Ireland – including Northern Ireland – and 24 to 96 hours in the
EU.
GLS Ireland is offering an additional service online on its website, www.gls-ireland.com:
customers will find both a complete list of parcel shops in the category Parcel Shop locator
as well as comprehensive information about shipment conditions and prices. Entrepreneurs
interested in operating a parcel shop can submit an application under Parcel Shop
application. “Everyone involved stands to profit from the additional service”, says Stüwe. “We
are convinced that the positive response to the parcel shops will continue to grow.”
