Infinity parcel locker network to be rolled out in Israel

ORIAN – part of the DB Schenker network – is rolling out SwipBox infinity parcel lockers nationwide in Israel after a successful pilot in selected cities, which showed that customers found using the app-operated parcel locker easy and convenient.

As an important part of ORIAN’s strategy, the logistics partner installed the first Infinity parcel lockers in selected cities in Israel at the beginning of 2022. The solution will soon be made available throughout Israel following a successful pilot period during which ORIAN received useful feedback from end users.

Chen Lamdan, CEO at ORIAN, says: “Our two main priorities are convenience and sustainability, and we believe the Infinity parcel lockers are a great fit in both respects. By creating dense networks, we’re able to deliver parcels using electric vehicles – and when those dense networks are placed near customers, they not only provide convenience, they also encourage those customers to walk or cycle down to pick up their parcels. Both factors contribute to a reduction in CO2 emissions.”

While the network of nationwide parcel lockers, which will be branded “Shlager”, is starting out as a closed network, ORIAN are considering opening it up to other carriers and retailers later in the rollout process.

Kasper Cort, CCO at SwipBox, says: “The reason behind the Infinity success in Israel is no doubt down to ORIAN’s innovative mindset. They have successfully introduced the Infinity solution to their customers, who have been quick to embrace it,” Kasper says and adds: “It’s strong partnerships like this that truly matters when introducing new technologies on a market.”

Danish company SwipBox is the developer behind the app-operated Bluetooth parcel lockers that run on batteries, making the lockers easy and fast to install as there is no need for an external power source or a Wi-Fi router.

ORIAN operates as a logistics partner for several logistics companies in Israel and owns and operates the network of SwipBox Infinity parcel lockers in the country.
