Prestons wins with Pall-Ex

Prestons of Potto says it has secured twp new clients since joining Pall-Ex at the beginning of the year covering Teesside, and it now hopes to expand the service area.
Annie Preston, chairman of Prestons of Potto, says: “We operate in seven regions and I see no reason why our service with Pall-Ex cannot be expanded to these areas.”
Preston says it took the decision to join a pallet network after turning down small part loads which it was unable to handle.
Preston says “Joining Pall-Ex means we can now handle the small loads. We can choose Pall-Ex after careful research into the market. We sell ourselves on our service level and we did not want this new venture to spoil our reputation. And also it’s a case of ladies working with ladies.”
Pall-Ex owner and managing director Hilary Sharples has emerged as arguably the industry’s most prominent and influential woman. Meanwhile, East Anglia based family firm Foulger Transport has joined Palletline. Phil Shipley, transport manager of Foulger Transport, says: “Being a member of a pallet network gives you much more options as a business. We used to be a member of the TPN network, and although there was nothing wrong with it, we now feel we are a member of a bigger and better network.”
Cross-Channel haulier Foulger Transport, which has fleet of around 70 vehicles, will cover the NR postcodes.
