DHL sets aside USD54m for India expansion

DHL has earmarked US$54m for spending on infrastructure and opening gateways in major Indian airports and ports from next month.

DHL Worldwide’s country manager in India, Chris Callen, said the company will set up its headquarters in New Delhi early next month and then open gateways to Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

The facilities planned include bonded warehouses and customs clearance.

DHL is also tryhing to become a major cargo hauler through its division DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, which has already entered into an agreement with Lemuir for ocean and air cargo shipments.
