Maersk Logistics will take over transload and warehouse operations, along with ocean transport intermediary business from DSL.
The deal will see Maersk’s share of cargo traffic between Asia Pacific and North America increase, helping it to seal its global presence as a leading player in the North American transload and warehousing market. It also opens up a new business line, with the firm starting to operate as an ocean transport intermediary.
“We remain entirely focused on the demands of our clients and are speaking to each of them about our plans for successfully integrating the business, and the immediate benefits they can expect,” said Soren K Brandt, Maersk Logistics’ global Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. “The acquisition of these assets, along with the knowledge and professionalism of the DSL employees will allow us to deliver a higher level of expertise in integrated logistics management as well as a wider logistics service package.”
