Romania Post Modernizes Financial Services

The Romanian Post has extended its automated counter network to 210 post offices. At the beginning of the year the number of the automated post offices was 73 and they were located in the main cities. Today, automated postal services are available in all the cities in Romania. The post offices’ connection to the Romanian Post information network ensures the real-time provision of the financial postal services: on-line money orders, Western Union money transfers, and Eurogiro transactions.

Romanian Mail raises fees for some of its services

Tariffs for unreserved internal and external postal services will increase starting October 1
Romanian Post Office says that the tariffs for main postal services – simple mail, money orders, international money orders – will remain the same, as well as tariffs for EMS (Express Mail Service), SkyPak, e-Post, foreign parcel delivery and Par Avion.

Romanian Post mulls digital trust services

The Romanian Post National Company is considering providing digital trust services as part of its growth plans.
The trust services could involve establishing a certificate authority.
Romanian Post officials, however, cautioned that plans for launching trust services were still at an early stage. In fact, the post has yet to write a business plan to implement the project.
“These projects involve a lot of money….We hope to find a way to resolve this,” said the chief of its Computer Network Office, Stefan Vlasceanu.
The post hopes to start work on the business plan in June and complete it in 30 days.

Romanian mail increase tariffs for external and internal competition services

Tariffs for internal and external mail services will be increased starting March 15, aiming at covering the results from changes in consumption costs and on ROL/DST exchange rates, according to National Mail Company.
As for internal services, message tariffs for up to 1 kg packages increases from 2,000 lei to 2,500 lei, while a special delivery letter will cost 4,000 lei, against ROL 3,000 as currently.
As well, arrival confirmation will be charged 4,000 lei, 500 lei more than the present tariff, and the subscription for a mailbox 19,000, as compared with ROL 16,000 as presently.
