TNT targets Hong Kong – Europe cargo flights

TNT, the express courier and mail company, is in talks with AirMark, an Indonesian airline owned by mainly Malaysian interests, about launching cargo flights between Hong Kong and Europe. Hong Kong deputy country manager Ambrose Linn said the move followed the disruption to express shipments caused by airlines cutting back scheduled services in the wake of the atypical pneumonia outbreak.

Taiwan takes step toward privatising postal system

The state-owned Chunghwa Post was officially established yesterday, under the supervision of Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), as the government transformed the postal service into a corporation.

MOTC Vice Minister Chang Chia-juch (Chang Chia-chu) was appointed as the corporation’s first chairman while Huang Shui-cheng, former deputy director general of the postal service, is the corporation’s general manager.

Taiwan's Post Offices to be incorporated from Jan 1

The Directorate General of Posts at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications said it will be incorporated as Chunghwa Post Corp from Jan 1.

The Directorate General of Posts runs the island’s post offices and also owns Directorate General of Postal Remittances and Savings Banks (DGPRSB) that conducts operations such as deposits, loans and life insurance.
