Interlink Express unveils ground-breaking products and services for small and medium businesses
Interlink Express and its 100 depots are completing a £20 million investment to make it the easiest carrier for small and medium businesses to deal with them. This is one of the most significant steps in the express parcels carrier’s 23-year history. The company will launch three new timed next-day deliveries based on the result of research with more than 8,000 customers. In addition, and again as a result of listening to its customers and franchisees, it has re-engineered the customer experience to make it as simple, easy and quick as possible. These developments recognise that small and medium businesses have little time, and while parcel distribution is of critical importance, it is not something they wish to specialise in and spend time managing. It is therefore essential that they select a partner who shares and understands this view. This twin-pronged approach of introducing new products and services, along with creating the easiest customer experience, forms an offer currently unrivalled in the marketplace and which Interlink Express is confident will not be matched.
New products and services
Primary products are the three new next-day timed deliveries by 9.30am, by 12 noon and by 3pm, all specifically designed to offer particular benefits to the small and medium business giving them a competitive advantage.
By 9.30am – said by small businesses to be the ideal time to receive urgent parcels – sufficiently early but conveniently when people are at work. Interlink Express has added a further benefit – not available elsewhere in the market – by providing a proactive notification by sms or email for any unavoidable delays.
By 12 noon – for these occasions when it is urgent, but a mid-day delivery is preferred. This service is launched in response to a growing market requiring time-sensitive deliveries and Interlink Express has the ideal network to deliver this service.
By 3pm – the new standard next-day delivery for Interlink Express. This provides Interlink Express’ customers with the competitive advantage of being two hours’ ahead of their rivals. And customers have time that working day to make use of the goods. Interlink Express is confident no other carrier in the marketplace has the flexibility to match this offer.
The remaining options are two timed deliveries on Saturdays – by 9am and by 12 noon – for companies and their customers who work at weekends.
Easiest carrier to deal with
Interlink Express has invested in a suite of initiatives to ensure it is extremely easy for small and medium businesses to deal with them. This includes a proactive range of services to make life less stressful – and provides a choice of means of contact.
One such service is a ‘by phone’ service called ‘Interact’. By calling just one number – 08702 200300 – customers can track parcels, arrange collections, organise a POD (proof of delivery), make account enquiries or speak to the sales team.
Another service is payment by credit card, which is now giving many small and medium businesses the new opportunity to complete a transaction in one phone call.
These new services can be accessed easily through Interlink Express’s new ship@ease solution. This is set to transform the way small and medium businesses deal with parcels delivery – and will be of particular value at peak busy times, such as leading up to Christmas. The over-riding benefit of web-based ship@ease is that it is simple to use and provides significant time and money savings. Customers no longer have to write out consignment notes or call to make a collection and can arrange several collections at one time and they can track their parcels.
Commenting on these developments, Kay Phillips, chief executive of Interlink Express says “We recognise that small and medium businesses today face many challenges in extremely competitive environments. To understand their needs, we carried out in-depth research with our customers and with our franchisees, who themselves operate and manage small businesses. We know that we have to provide these businesses with the best services and the most efficient processes to ensure we support them in delivering the highest level of service to their customer.
“Going forward, our commitment is to continue to invest in developing these services in line with our customers’ future needs, as this is only the first phase of the new and evolving Interlink Express.
