Tibbett and Britten earns long term contract with French Fashion Company

Tibbett & Britten France, a wholly owned subsidiary of the UK-based international logistics service provider Tibbett & Britten Group plc, has won a substantial long-term contract with Rodier, a French apparel company. The contract commenced in April 2003. (4/14/2003)

Rodier has outsourced its 21,000 sq metre (226,000 sq ft) national distribution centre in Cambrai (Department 59) and Tibbett & Britten France has taken over the facility, along with all former Rodier warehousing and driving personnel. The site becomes Tibbett & Britten’s fourth clothing & textiles distribution centre in France.

On behalf of Rodier, Tibbett & Britten is managing the receipt and compliance of inbound stock and materials, and is providing storage, order processing and distribution to some 600 outlets across Europe, the Middle East and North America. The logistics specialist expects to handle more than a million hanging and boxed garments a year under the contract.

Up to now Rodier has handled all its logistics in-house. Philippe Marsal, Rodier’s Logistics Director, explains the change of approach: “We wanted to optimise our logistical and product distribution chain, to give it more power and the ability to react swiftly. So we called in a specialist with in-depth knowledge of the fashion sector. Tibbett & Britten’s know-how and experience of taking over warehouses and staff, confirmed our choice.”

Mike Arrowsmith, Group CEO of Tibbett & Britten, added: “This agreement reinforces the translation of our expertise in the clothing and textiles sector into mainland Europe. It confirms our European leadership in this sector – already strengthened by recent signings of new contracts with Muji in France and the Cortefiel Group in Spain.”
